This last week to week and a half has been an extremely weird week. It is like it has been a full moon the whole time and everyone's chemical balance has gone out of whack. There has been sickness that has affected my family with Lindsey being sick, and my Uncle Keith in critical condition in Savannah. I have friends who are either sick or their wives are sick. A dear friend of mine's parents are considering divorce again. There has been the death of some wonderful Christian people. The attitude of many, including myself, has gone sour and been extremely cynical. I am at the point of asking "Why is this happening?" Then, I have to remember that this world is a fallen world. This world is by no means perfect and it is ruled by one who loves the destruction of man. While we live in this world, difficult times, death, divorce, and corruption will be a part of this world. As a Christian, there will be plenty of times where we face some harsh times. There are going plenty of unfair and unexpected situations, but we can take hope in the fact that there is a greater day ahead in which, if you are saved by Jesus Christ, there will be a day when there is no more pain, fear, or insecurities. These tough times are meant to strengthen us in all aspects of life. Here are a few verses that will hopefully encourage you.
Ephesians 6:11 - 12
Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
James 1:12 - 15 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Romans 8:37-39
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Understand that when bizarro world comes, and it always comes, there is a God who has given us a means to fight against the attacks of Satan. Remember that these tough times are meant for our good and meant to strengthen us. If we have placed our faith in Christ, there is nothing that can separate us from God and His love. While we may struggle and suffer, we cannot be taken away from God, if we have called upon His name. Take great hope in the fact that God is in control and that His glory is being magnified. Take comfort that He has meant these things for our good (not necessarily financially or physically, but in a way that is not always measured by the dollar bill or a doctor's check up) and not our demise. Take hope that we cannot be separated from God's love
May these verses bring comfort to you in all times, good and bad. When life goes into darkness, run into the light and the loving arms of our Savior. Feel free to share verses that encourage and comfort you. God bless.
