Fort Worth is a pretty cool place. I will say that I have quite enjoyed living out here so far. Georgia is always on my mind, but Fort Worth is a nice replacement for now. There are plenty of places to eat and a good number of entertainment choices, most of them pretty cheap. We are meeting people at church, school, and work so we are starting to build relationships that help ease being away from a place that has been home for us so long. There are some good people out here, which God has truly blessed us with.
School has been going pretty well thus far. I have been doing well on my tests and quizzes. The classes and the assignments are intense, but they haven't been overwhelming. It can be easy to get bogged down and discouraged, but most of the time the homework or the class discussions have been really enlightening and encouraging. There is a natural bond between Seminary students, even if you never talk to one another. That bond is there because you are both in the same situation. Each of you has a calling placed on your life to go into some type of ministry, be it preaching, youth ministry, missions, counseling, or teaching. Each student is also in the same situation financially. Families are trying to figure out how to pay the bills, buy food, pay for tuition, and tithe all at the same time. You are having to balance school work with work work with family time with God time. You could only talk to another seminary student once and there would be an instant connection at some level because each of you is in a similar place.
I always heard that Seminary was a time of difficulty and stress, but could also be the most rewarding. I am definitely learning that. While things have gotten tough here and there, God has always proven Himself faithful to Lindsey and myself. When we were struggling to find jobs, God opened doors for us. When we were homesick, God provided friends to encourage us. In the few months we have been here, God has stretched me in so many ways. It has been amazing. I look forward to growing even more as a person, a believer, a student, a friend, a minister, and a husband. It's rarely easy, but always worth it. You can't go with God and stay where you are at.
